Trees for the Future plants trees with the mission to help end hunger and poverty for small farmers through revitalizing degraded lands. They help by planting specific types of fast-growing, fruit and hardwood trees along with food crops in a proven and systematic way over a four year period. This creates Forest Gardens that consist of thousands of trees that provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, crops to sell, fuel wood and a 400% increase in their annual income in four years.

They typically work with 300 families at a time and help them through five phases of helping farmers learn to design, establish and maintain their Forest Gardens. These phases include 1) Mobilization, 2) Protection, 3) Diversification, 4) Optimization and 5) graduation over the four year period.
