Interestingly, only one in five Teach For America members had interest in teaching before applying. 85% of alumni now work in education or careers serving low income communities. Over 1,000 corps members or alumni have also been selected as “Teacher of the Year” in their states, districts or schools. In the last five years alone, the Forbes 30 Under 30 list has included 42 Teach For America alumni.
