Make A Wish is one of the more recognizable charities in the United States because of the continuous impact they make granting wishes for critically ill children. Their wishes bring renewed energy, inspiration and strength to children and their families in their battle with some of the toughest diseases in the world.

With the help of thousands of volunteers, donors and supporters, Make A Wish is able to grant a wish every 34 minutes. They are guided by their mission to grant a wish to every child diagnosed with a critical illness. So far, they have granted wishes for more than 285,000 children with 15,300 wishes granted in 2017 alone.

How did it all start? In 1980 a child named Chris Greicius, 7, was diagnosed with leukemia and wanted more than anything to be a police office. A community of caring people came together to grant Chris his wish and the “Make A Wish” phenomena was born.
