The International Rescue Committee was founded at the request of Albert Einstein because of what Adolf Hitler was doing as the chancellor of Germany. Einstein came together with more than 50 other prominent artist, intellectuals, clergy and political leader to form a branch of what was originally the International Relief Association.
The International Rescue Committee focuses their efforts in the areas of health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power. - Reached an estimated 2 million people affected by hunger crisis in East Africa, Nigeria and Yemen.
- Provided 1.14 million children with schooling and other education opportunities.
- Helped to create or support more than 16,000 business (73% of which are female owned).
- Provided support and safe spaces to over 135,000 children and over 115,000 women and girls.
